500 Owners Association

The '500' movement began in 1946 as a way of encouraging cheaper forms of motor sport by promoting the use of motorcycle engines of 500 c.c. instead of the larger capacity engines that prevailed prior to the war. The idea caught on and was adopted as a new Formula Three for international competition in 1950. Many well known names have been involved with 500s including Stirling Moss, Ken Tyrell, Peter Collins and one B. Ecclestone! The movement continues through the 500 Owners Association, promoting racing and hillclimbs for historic and modern cars.

Vintage Sports Car Club

The V.S.C.C. is primarily concerned with the preservation and competition of sports cars built pre-1931 and selected Post Vintage Thoroughbred sports cars (PVT's) constructed prior to 1941. The club was founded in 1934 by a group of young men following a proposition in the now defunct magazine "The Light Car'' that 'a club for the not so rich' be formed. The main concern was that the heyday of historic motoring was coming to an end. The original ethos still stands in that the V.S.C.C. is about enjoying our motoring heritage. With over 7500 members world-wide the club organises over 30 competitive events every year, from racing to rallying and from hillclimbs to trials.
